Skagit Valley College, Mount Vernon, WA

The Skagit Valley College (SVC) website was the largest website project that I was in charge of redesigning from top to bottom. In 2016 I was hired into the marketing department as their Digital Content Specialist with the specific intent of completly redesigning the main SVC site and then working on their constellation of 19 additional sites. The process started with a major study of similar community colleges and higher ed institutions in order to understand the critical needs of the various personas coming to the SVC site.

The Skagit campaign was designed as a general awareness campaign to increase enrollment by playing off the name of the Skagit Valley College, located in Skagit County, and often gets reduced to “Skagit” by students and the community at large. The theme was meant to play on a three phrase repetition on action oriented theme.

Video

With the main SVC website completed I could then focus on specific areas of the site to create richer content where needed. And with video being increasing popular I started to produced video content for specific programs and for different marketing campaigns on a quarterly basis and targeted audiences. 

Photography

One of the key visual directions in producing the website at SVC meant committing to original photography in the web banners for each section and web page, to that end I started taking photos of students, faculty and staff on the main campuses. This evolved into increasing photoshoots of events, meetings, athletics events, etc. The images below include several award-winning images including gold winners from 2020…
